What Happens During an Eligibility Review?
An eligibility review is the first step in most provider-guided weight management programs. Its purpose is to gather enough information for a licensed provider to decide whether a given approach is appropriate and, just as importantly, whether it may not be.
It's helpful to think of it less as a sign-up form and more as the start of a clinical conversation. The questions exist so a provider can make a safe, individualized decision rather than a generic one.
What you'll typically be asked
- Basic health information: Such as height, weight, and relevant history.
- Current medications and supplements: So a provider can check for possible interactions.
- Existing medical conditions: Which may affect whether an approach is suitable.
- Prior experiences: What you've tried before and how it went.
- Your goals and concerns: What you're hoping for and any questions you have.
What happens next
A licensed provider reviews the information you provide. This is a genuine clinical decision, not a formality an approach is only made available when the provider determines it's appropriate for an individual's health profile. If it isn't, that outcome is the review working exactly as intended.
Step by step
-
01You complete the questionnaire. Usually only a few minutes.
-
02A provider reviews it separately. Your answers are assessed against your health profile.
-
03A decision is made. An approach is offered only if it's determined appropriate otherwise it isn't.
-
04If appropriate, next steps follow. Including, where relevant, pharmacy fulfillment and ongoing follow-up.
How long it takes
The questionnaire itself is usually brief often only a few minutes. Provider review follows separately, so the full process isn't instantaneous by design. There is generally no obligation to proceed at any point, and completing a review does not commit you to anything.
Common questions
Does completing the review mean I'll be approved?
No. The review can result in either outcome. A provider may determine that an approach isn't appropriate, and that is a normal and protective result.
Is there any cost or obligation to complete it?
The review itself is designed to be no-obligation. You can stop at any point before proceeding.
You can start a brief eligibility review at any time. There's no obligation, and a licensed provider reviews each submission.
